Growing relationships with your customers is a huge part of having a successful business no matter what industry. The Goal Should be to Make a Customer, Not a sale. 

One unhappy customer will share their experience with everyone, and with the power of social media and the web it can negatively affect your reputation and business.

It is so important to create a great experience for your customers to help develop trust. Creating love between your company and your customers will create positive word of mouth referrals and create raving fans. Your customers can and will purchase somewhere else if you don’t deliver a memorable experience. 

Here are 8 ways to Make A Customer, not just a sale and keep them coming back and telling their friends!  

1. Treat your Customers Right

Happy customers who get their issue resolved and have their expectations met tell 4 to 6 people about their experience. So that’s a way to significantly increase the word of mouth about your business.

2. Don’t Come on Too Strong – Respect Your Customers

A third of consumers say they experience rude customer service at least once a month, and 58% of them tell their friends. This is exactly how word of mouth can work in a positive or negative way. 

Be patient. Be Genuine. You’re working towards gaining trust 🙂

3. Always Listen – Hear What Your Customers are Saying

Your customers are the lifeblood of your organization! Listen to their needs, you are a problem solver.  

4. Offer Support and Specials.

Do everything in your power to provide excellent service to your customers on an ongoing basis. Respond as quickly as possible and enthusiastically, and be ready to present. Reward them for being a repeat customer, reward them for referrals! What gets rewarded get repeated!

5. Treat customer like a VIP

Besides offering support, ongoing specials will continue to help grow your customer base and keep them happy for the long term. 

6. Build trust through Good and bad.

be honest when a product changes. Listen.
Let them know shipping delays have been happening. Let them know the truth up front. 

7. Follow up!

Your word is sacred. If you don’t follow up someone else will. Always follow up!

8. Thank you's

Letting your customers know you appreciate them and are thankful for their business.
There are other places they can go, other people they can do business with and they choose you!!!!
Handwritten Thank you notes is a great way to recognize a new customer.
